Adults with Disabilities

Supporting Independence, Choice and Participation

Circle of Care St. Louis serves adults living with physical, intellectual, developmental, cognitive, and other disabilities.

We recognize that disability can affect different parts of life—from everyday activities and healthcare to transportation, finances, family responsibilities, employment, and community participation.

Our goal is to help remove barriers, strengthen independence, and connect people with the support and opportunities they need to live the lives they choose.

Parents with Disabilities

Supporting You as a Parent—and as a Person

Adults with disabilities are also parents.

Raising children while managing your own disability can bring responsibilities that many traditional disability and family programs don't fully address.

You may be managing your own healthcare, personal assistance, benefits or transportation while also getting children to school, preparing meals, keeping appointments, managing household routines, responding to children's changing needs, and making decisions for your family.

Sometimes the challenge isn't parenting itself.

It's trying to parent while navigating systems and barriers that weren't designed around you.

That's why Circle of Care is developing a more intentional approach to supporting parents with disabilities and their families.

Parenting With Confidence

Building Stronger Parents. Stronger Families.

Parenting With Confidence is a family-strengthening program being developed specifically for parents with disabilities.
The program recognizes that parents may benefit from information and support that is practical, accessible, individualized, and responsive to different abilities and learning styles.

Rather than telling parents how to raise their children, Parenting With Confidence will build on each parent's strengths while helping families develop skills, address barriers, and work toward goals that matter to them.

Parenting & Child Development
Understand your child's development and strengthen practical skills around routines, communication, positive discipline, behavior, play and parent-child relationships.

Family Coaching
Work individually to identify your family's strengths, concerns and goals and develop a plan for moving forward.

Family Stability
Get help navigating barriers involving food, transportation, healthcare, benefits, childcare, education, housing, finances and other resources affecting your household.

Parent Wellness
Build skills for managing stress, problem-solving, self-advocacy, communicating needs and developing a stronger support network.

Parent-Child Connection
Practice strategies that strengthen communication, positive interaction, bonding and confidence in your parenting role.
