At Circle of Care St. Louis, we believe meaningful professional development begins with opportunities to learn, contribute, and make a lasting difference in the community. Our Internship Program provides college and university students, graduate students, and eligible community college students with practical, hands-on experience in a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health, independence, stability, and quality of life of individuals and families throughout the St. Louis region.

Internship opportunities span social services, healthcare administration, community wellness, nonprofit leadership, workforce development, data analytics, finance, communications, and community engagement. Students work alongside experienced professionals, participate in meaningful organizational projects, and develop practical skills that complement their academic studies and career goals. Internship assignments are based on educational background, professional interests, organizational needs, and available supervision.

Internship Eligibility & Requirements

Applicants should be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, community college, or approved academic program. Internships are generally structured around an academic semester, with schedules and responsibilities established according to program requirements and organizational capacity. Applicants are expected to demonstrate professionalism, dependability, confidentiality, and respect for the diverse individuals and communities we serve.

Missouri Family Care Safety Registry Requirement

To support the safety and well-being of the individuals and families served by Circle of Care St. Louis, interns assigned to positions involving client interaction, access to sensitive client information, or other designated responsibilities may be required to register with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) and successfully complete applicable background screening requirements before beginning their assignments.

Applicants who are not already registered should be prepared to complete the registration process as directed by Circle of Care St. Louis. Registration does not automatically establish eligibility for placement, and additional screening or documentation may be required depending on the internship assignment.

Important Supervision Notice: Circle of Care St. Louis provides supervision through designated organizational staff but does not currently offer licensed clinical supervision. Some academic programs, particularly social work and counseling programs, may require supervision by a professional holding a specific license or credential.

1. Social Services & Case Management Intern

High priority

Assist with intake, resource navigation, benefit applications, community referrals, follow-up, and case documentation.

Majors: Social Work, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology

2. Healthcare Administration & Care Coordination Intern

High priority

Learn Medicaid home care operations, electronic visit verification, scheduling, service authorizations, quality assurance, and care coordination.

Majors: Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, Health Information Management

3. Public Health & Community Wellness Intern

Assist with fall-prevention education, health literacy, wellness workshops, social connection activities, and community outreach.

Majors: Public Health, Health Promotion, Gerontology, Community Health

4. Nonprofit Development & Grant Research Intern

High priority

Research grant opportunities, maintain funding pipelines, support proposals, donor communications, fundraising campaigns, and impact reporting.

5. Data Analytics & Program Evaluation Intern

Organize program data, develop dashboards, track service outcomes, analyze trends, and assist with community impact reports.

Majors: Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics

6. Human Resources & Workforce Development Intern

Support caregiver recruitment, onboarding coordination, training materials, personnel documentation, and workforce development projects.

Majors: Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership

7. Youth Transition & Workforce Readiness Intern

Support Transition Forward for young adults ages 18–24, including classroom preparation, digital skills, professional development activities, and participant progress tracking.

Majors: Education, Human Services, Rehabilitation Studies, Workforce Development

8. Marketing, Communications & Community Engagement Intern

Develop social media campaigns, outreach materials, program stories, newsletters, community event communications, and website content.

Majors: Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design

9. Volunteer & Community Partnerships Intern

Support volunteer recruitment, orientation, scheduling, engagement, community partnerships, and projects such as Adopt an Elder and Circle of Care Essentials.

Majors: Nonprofit Management, Communications, Human Services, Business

10. Finance & Nonprofit Operations Intern

Assist with financial reporting, budget tracking, expense classification, reconciliation support, and administrative processes under staff supervision.
